Editorial Standards
This page explains three things: where our cost figures come from, what we mean when we say this site is not medical advice, and what happens when a reader tells us we got something wrong.
How we source cost figures
Every price range on this site traces back to one of two places. Most come from this site's own calculator model, which we build from typical US pricing patterns for each procedure combination and disclose as our own estimate rather than a scraped or third-party number. Where we cite a specific outside figure, such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons' average surgeon fee statistics, we name the source and the year directly in the text next to the number, not in a footnote you have to hunt for. We do not average random survey results found online, and we do not accept pricing data from surgeons, clinics, or medical device companies in exchange for coverage.
What "not medical advice" actually means
Naomi Foster, who writes our guides, is a healthcare cost writer, not a physician, nurse, or other clinician. Nothing on this site diagnoses a condition, recommends a specific treatment for your case, or substitutes for an in-person evaluation by a board-certified plastic surgeon or oculoplastic surgeon. Where a guide describes risks, recovery, or candidacy, it is summarizing published, peer-reviewed sources and general clinical consensus, and it says so. When we are not confident a claim is well established, we say that too, rather than presenting it as settled fact. Any decision about surgery belongs to you and your surgeon, not to this website.
Corrections
If you find a number, a date, or a claim on this site that is wrong, tell us through the contact page. Naomi reviews correction requests against the original source before changing anything. If the correction holds up, we update the page and refresh its "updated" date; for anything that meaningfully changes a cost figure or a medical claim, we also note the change at the bottom of the affected guide. We do not quietly delete errors without explaining what changed.
What we do not do
- We do not publish outcome guarantees ("you will look 10 years younger") or promotional claims tied to a specific surgeon or clinic.
- We do not accept payment to name or rank a specific provider above another.
- We do not publish a guide under a fabricated author or a "medical review board" that does not correspond to a real, named person. See the authors page for who actually writes and edits this site.
